Last month, the week we closed on the house and the moved we also had another big event. Audrey turned 2! We didn't have a party for her this year (sorry Audrey) but did a couple dinners with the grandparents. Her party was seeing all her stuff in the new house and getting a playroom to play in with her sister. She seemed to be ok with that. The day after her birthday she had her well exam with the doctor. She's of course growing like crazy, no failure to thrive for sure with that one. She continues to be off the growth chart for weight (or as the doctor politely says, above the 95th percentile) and is pushing her height and head size as well. At least she's proportionately in balance. Audrey at 2 years weighted 34 pounds (Samantha was 34 pounds and 38" tall at her 3 year check up), was 36 inches tall (90th %) and had a head that measured at 49.25 cm also for the 90th %. She only needed one vaccine and did fairly well, got her toy, sticker and was out of there!
She really has a lot more personality showing through lately. She's really getting better at talking. Of course the more excited she gets the harder it is to understand her. She's really good at addressing you personally. She loves to say something and end it or being it with whoever she's talking to, Mom, Dad, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Matt. She is also still very passionate and when she doesn't get something immediately or if she isn't understood she will melt down, and quickly! She can throw tantrums with the best of em. Her happy moments are so much happier though than most kids (my opinion of course). She also has started telling on her sister. Sam will try to be innocent but Audrey started saying sister push, or something of the like, and then Sam is caught in her lie. Lol. Nice Audrey! Her legs don't seem to be any more turned in than they were a year ago, and if anything are straightening out like the doctor said they likely would. It certainly doesn't slow her down. Her Duane's Syndrome also doesn't seem to bother her. We have her eyes checked every 6 months and it takes all of 30 seconds with the doctor for him to say "yep, she's ok" and we're out. So all good news there.
She still sleeps in her crib, much to my cousin's surprise and jealousy. Samantha has helped her climb into the crib before but she has yet to figure out how to get out of it, and doesn't even really look like it's crossed her mind that that's even something you could do. Samantha never climbed out and we only moved her to her big girl bed a little after her 2nd birthday so she could get used to it before Audrey came and needed to use the crib. When Sam moved to her big bed she was happy just to be in it with her stuffed animals. Audrey free to roam in her room is trouble. She tends to take all her shoes and clothes and put them in her hamper, and with the new house having lever handles she can let herself out of her room. Trouble. Stay in your crib child!
To say we have our hands full with these girls at times is an understatement, but they are hilarious, kind, loving kids and we wouldn't have it any other way. It's great to watch them play together (although the fights are there every day) and we love watching them experience new things together. I predict a lot of fun in our futures.
