Big changes are coming for the Berger Family. No, no more kids, not funny if any of you were thinking that. Hell no!
Last year Josh got a new job and he's loving it. Last summer I started working part time again while being home with the girls the rest of the time. I thought it was the best of both worlds being home with them while also making some money and being around adults. I was wrong. While the schedule was good, the job was not. I basically hated it and kept telling myself things would get better with time. I think things almost got worse with time. I knew a change was needed. When the school district passed their school bond in November I was beyond ready to apply for the position I had for the 2008 bond. It took until Christmas for the job to post, and it actually is a slightly different job than I worked before. Last time I was the Bond Administrative Assistant, a classified employee. This job was for a Bond Office Manager. I had been in contact with the district and knew the expectations of the job and how things might be different this time around. I applied. After a 2 week posting, 2 interviews... I officially got the job. I will be working fulltime, 5 days a week, 12 months a year.
I haven't worked fulltime since having kids. This will be a big change, but one I'm excited about. I am excited about the job, the benefits, and fulltime paycheck. Mostly I'm excited to be working for a place I am truly passionate about and with people who know me and who I know and want to work with. All things that were lacking at the last job.
I start February 9th. Once again when the bond money runs out so will my job. By then both girls will be in primary school and I'll have a bit more freedom in working not having to worry about all day childcare for 2. As it is now Sam goes to preschool 2 days a week so it's just me and Audrey. So with me working fulltime Sam will be going to preschool 3 days a week, full days, and luckily they will take Audrey as well. They are a part daycare for kids starting at 22 months, but said they would take Audrey 3 months early since she's a sibling. Thank goodness, a huge relief for us not having to figure out one more daycare, making 2 stops for pick up and drop offs, and a savings in getting a sibling discount. Thank you preschool!
I'm sure I will have days that I wish I was at home with the kids, but even when I worked part time I wished for that on occasion, and on days when I'm home I occasionally wish to be out working with adults. There's always a trade off. I'm hoping this move will also help for our families future.
Saturday 31st we had Samantha's birthday party. This was our first year doing it somewhere other than the house. Safari Sam's is about a mile from our house and Sam absolutely loves it. It has an arcade area, bounce house area, jungle gym, and glow mini golf. They have pizza, (among other food) and we brought in our own cake. It was great having our own room to keep all our stuff and eat our goodies. I loved not having to bring a bunch of stuff, they provide everything, all we did was bring the cake. The kids got there and immediately ran around the bounce houses and jungle gym rooms. Then it was time for pizza and cake before taking the tokens over to the arcade for some more fun. The kids all seemed to have a blast, and Sam of course can't wait to go back again (and she needs to with all her tickets we didn't cash in and extra tokens we didn't spend). After Safari Sam's we came home with all the grandparents and Uncle Matt and let Sam open all her presents. She was one happy girl!
