102 Degrees

Last Saturday when the temperatures were forecasted to reach the high 90's, we made plans to meet up with the Borts' in Portland at the Teacher's Fountain. First thing in the morning however we headed up to the big park by our house and Sam waded around in the little stream fountain and got to play on the swings. Then after nap time it was time for downtown! It's a great fountain for little kids with water no deeper than 3 inches, if that, and spouts of water squirting up all over. The temps actually got to 102 in Portland but it honestly didn't feel like it walking through the water with a nice little breeze in the afternoon. Sam loves the water, it was hard to get her out so we could go eat.

Checking eachother out

Just figured out she can splash!

Playing together, mostly Sam splashing

She kept walking straight into the fountains

18 Months

Along with the 28th being Josh and my 5 year anniversary, it was also Samantha's 18 month birthday. We were only with her for a few hours in the morning before she headed off with Grandma Kaye for the day/night, but of course I had to snap a few pictures before she left.

We also had her 18 month appointment last Tuesday, the first I think ever that she didn't need any shots. Of course that seems like a good thing, but she screamed bloody murder the entire time anyway. I guess at this age that's totally normal, but didn't make for a very fun morning for mom either. I could have let go of her and she wouldn't have fallen since she was gripped around my neck and sides so tight there was no wiggle room. She's growing just fine, still looks to be right on track with everything. We finally had our favorite nurse back, who we think, knows how to measure her. The last two appointments her height was way high for her, so we think this puts her back on track and much more accurate. She measured in at 25 lbs 14 ounces... still steading out there, 73%. Her height, 32 inches, 68%. And again her giant head came in at 49cm, for the 97%.

5 Years Already??

Last weekend Josh and I had our 5 year wedding anniversary. The time really did fly by, but in a mostly good way. We've had two of the lowest lows of our entire lives during that time, but so many of our highest highs as well. Being together, and parenting together has been the best part of my life!

We were lucky enough to have my step-mom and dad babysit overnight so we could get away. We headed up to Skamania Lodge stopping at some waterfalls along the way, as well as Walking Man Brewery in Stevenson. It was a nice relaxing trip which included eating dinner together, both at the same time, at 7:30 at night, without cutting our food into little pieces. I even wore heels for the first time in a long time! The weather was perfect, we just love it up there. To top off the weekend we hit up the Street of Dreams, which we hadn't been to in years, but I really wanted to see this year with it being in West Linn.

Warm Weather

We got Sam a tiny little toddler pool for the yard a while ago so she could get used to playing in the water while not in the bath. She loves water, but wasn't really into sitting in the water, just splashing with dad.

Side

Sam loves to play "side" as she says, or outside, as we say. We recently were given a play structure with a slide on it from a co-worker. Sam was so excited seeing the slide just lying on the ground she started to shimmy herself across it flat on the grass. She is thrilled it's put together now too however. There aren't stairs though, only a ladder type to climb up, which she doesn't know how to do yet. She doesn't appear to excel in climbing, which I'm really ok with!
