Audrey is 7 Months... a little late

So this is a little late, but last Friday Audrey turned 7 months. She is growing up way too fast. I'm ready for her to be older, but she's learning things way too fast. She's far ahead of where Sam was at this age, so it was unexpected. She can pull herself up holding onto furniture, and is pretty fearless, falls all the time, and if she cries is usually short lived before she tries again. It's great, but she's non stop, and always going after Samantha's toys and food.

She had her 6 month doctor's appointment today... a little late as they were booked solid during January, and I wanted a double appointment for Audrey and Samantha's 3 year. Audrey weighed in at 22 lbs 8 oz... not on the charts, and 27 1/4 inches for the 79th percentile. (Gotta love how not easy it is to measure a baby) And of course her head is the 90th percentile at 44 3/4 inches.  (Samantha weighed in at 34 lbs for the 79th percentile and 38 inches tall for the 72nd percentile. She's growing perfectly. She also had her first eye chart exam and blood pressure test. It was awfully cute to watch her point out different shapes with each eye like a big girl.)

I did Audrey's stats at home for this photo

Snowy Weekend

Well, I still can't believe we just had the weekend we had. Watching the news and hearing the reports that could have some snow on Saturday afternoon excited me. A little snow on a weekend when we didn't have any plans works for me. Then as we got closer they kept moving the snow up. Ok... still no plans for the weekend, although I was hoping to run some errands since the weekends are really my only free time. Then Thursday everything started. Josh left work at 2:30 and got home at his usual 4 with his commute taking three times longer than usual. The roads weren't horrible yet, but there were a lot of people on the road all trying to get home and the few slick spots there were left some people totally unprepared in their rear wheel drive. I was excited to take the girls out to see the snow while we had it so we headed out in the backyard Thursday afternoon. Sam had fun and Audrey didn't know what was going on but seemed happy. Sam asked to build a snowman. Of course the snow was complete powder so the snowman didn't work out so well. We weren't out long as it was getting dark, but they got to experience snow. It kept snowing Thursday night and when we woke up Friday it started again. Of course the news said it would come later on Friday but it started here at noon... I think we ended Friday with 3 inches, after snowing for almost 12 hours.

Our mini snowman attempt Thursday

Friday it came down even heavier. Josh stayed home Friday avoiding the roads and drivers. Since it was pretty and not snowing early Friday we headed back to the backyard to play. Sam was so cute when she got up she went right to the backdoor to see the snow and asked to go outside. She played with her buckets and shovels from the beach. She had fun throwing the snow until she accidently threw it in her own face. Of course this is when I decided to record her playing, great timing! She was done after that. By Friday night after more snow we were up to almost 8 inches. It was pretty, but also showed no signs of going away.

Video of Sam playing, until she gets snow all over her face, which of course does not maker her happy.

Saturday morning we got even more. We ended up with about 11 inches. I still can't believe it. By Saturday afternoon the snow had stopped and the freezing rain came in. During a quick break between snow and rain Josh took Sam outside, she again had fun for a few minutes, but then it started to rain and she was done. She also didn't like how deep the snow was. I can't say I blame her, 11 inches is a lot on her! Josh stayed outside after Sam came in and finally was able to build the snowman we tried earlier, since the freezing rain was gave the snow the moisture it needed. I gathered supplies for the snowman as Josh built it, and we are both quite proud of the finished product. We of course took lots of photos in the snow. Anytime there's snow here we must document as proof that it even happened! It was fun, but we were definitely ready for it to be done.

We finally got to venture out to the store Sunday afternoon as we were running out of essentials since we didn't think we would be stuck like we were. I was thrilled to get out of the house, even just for an hour. Josh was able to head into work today, but took my car just in case he ran into any trouble. The roads around here were fine, just slush, it was really just the parking lot at his office that was slick, not surprising.

After the freezing rain came, Sunday morning created sheets of ice covering everything, probably 1/2 inch thick in most places. It still looks like a mess out there, but the cars are cleared off and the walkway. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the rain to wash away the piles of snow we have in the yard.

Samantha's Birthday Video

Samantha is 3!!!

I can't believe our little girl is 3 years old. She is growing up so fast right before our very eyes. She has quite the little personality, and is definitely becoming her own person... although she is very much like her mom. Josh tends to call her Same-y.... Same as Amy, Sam + Amy... ya, it works way too well. She is a mommy's girl now after being a daddy's girl as a baby. She will believe almost anything I tell her, no matter how fabricated. I could convince her something Josh says is wrong even if it's not, and then tell her exactly what Josh was saying and then she'll believe me and tell daddy what mommy said, like it was never his idea in the first place. It's pretty funny.
At 3 years old what is she up to? Well...
  • She is potty trained and loves her big girl undies (although still wears a pull up at night)
  • She loves movies, and goes back and forth on her favorites. Right now the top of the list are Ice Age 2, Turbo, and Madagascar. Always on the list are Finding Nemo, Lion Kind, and Cars
  • She loves puzzles and blocks, building with anything she think will stack
  • She still loves cars and trains
  • She's starting to really not need naps every day. It seems the longer she goes without one however the sleep she needs eventually catches up. We're not quite ready to stop all together. (Read, mommy isn't quite ready to have her stop napping yet)
  • Her favorite color is red, loves it, not rally sure why accept maybe because of Lightening McQueen in Cars.
  • She loves to dance and sing. She mostly sings Disney songs, her favorites Hakuna Matata, Life is a Highway (from Cars), and she loves Adele's Rumor Has It.
  • Favorite foods include oranges, broccoli, animal cookies, crackers, pasta, macaroni & cheese with hotdogs, cheese pizza, string cheese, turkey, strawberries, cereal, pancakes and waffles, yogurt, and fortune cookies when we have some around.
  • She loves to know what Audrey is doing at all times, loves to come say good morning after waking from a nap or nights sleep, and loves to come when we change Audrey's diaper.
  • She's a very lovey girl. She will out of nowhere tell you how she loves you or give you hugs and kisses. She's very sweet and hates to see others upset. (She once accidently kicked Audrey and when she realized what she did she burst out crying. Audrey cried for about 10 seconds and then laughed at Sam. Sam only calmed down when she gave Audrey a kiss and told her she was sorry)
  • She gets upset easily at times, but also gets over things easily, as long as she has a wipe. haha She will cry and then need a tissue or something to wipe her tears, otherwise she will continue to be upset.
  • She also has the best memory of anyone ever. She will remember things we told her weeks ago, and randomly bring up something we did a year ago like it was yesterday. It will be interesting to see what her first memory will be.
