8th Annual Frybackyard Olympics

This year marked the 8th year of the Frybackyard Olympics. The event is hosted by a family that we've been friends with for the last 24 years. There are always three events, bocce ball, lawn darts (old school sharp kind), and new this year replacing horseshoes the bean bag toss. The final event of the night exhibition style is beer pong. You are partnered randomly boy/girl teams, and with Alyssa living in Arizona now it was a much older group, but still always a good time! Sad to say I was left out of the medals in the main 3 events, while Josh struck gold in lawn darts, but I did earn the gold in beer pong. I had a young rookie partner this year and we tried to carry each other through the events but didn't quite have enough. I was a bit distracted during my 2nd game of lawn darts when Sam took a spill down the stairs running towards Josh. We had a timeout from the game while Sam needed mommy. Clearly I was more distracted after that than Josh as he and his partner went on to beat me and mine. (Sam was also sitting on the deck close to where I was playing and crying for me while we finished the game) For beer pong you have different partners, based on who wants to play  and who sticks around. I was partnered with the Grand Poo Ba himself, Ricky Fryback. We went undefeated to earn our medals, then played one more  just for fun, and finally lost by a cup, but by then it didn't matter. Until next year...

Baby Bailey

August 19th we welcomed Bailey Marie Borts' the friend clan. Dan and Lacey had their second daughter and we headed to the hospital to see the family, and the Manson's who also showed up right after we did. The kids enjoyed seeing each other while the parents played pass the kids! Seeing Audrey next to Bailey was funny. Audrey is 6 weeks older and was born almost 3 pounds bigger. It will be fun to watch these two grow up together.

Josh's Birthday

So, Josh's birthday was a few weeks ago and with having another baby the month before I wanted to try and figure out what to get him early. I couldn't really think of a good 30th birthday present, but what I think was to do 30 days of 30. However having 30 days leading up to his birthday would have meant starting mid July, and not knowing when we would be in the hospital I decided that might not work. Since his birthday is on the 12th, I changed it to the 12 days of Josh. He came home from work on August 1st and saw 12 paper bags sitting on the dining room table numbered 1-12. He was excited since he is a little kid when it comes to wanting to open presents early, and this meant he got almost 2 weeks worth of opening presents. The 12 days ended with tickets to the Hops last home game of the season. We didn't think we'd make it to a game this year with the summer of Audrey arriving. Surprise, we made it!

A few of the presents. Golf tees, coffee chocolate, beer holder plates, a Lions shirt

Cookies & an Oregon bottle opener key chain

Hops hat

Peanut M&M's (I only bought candy I don't like and therefor wouldn't eat)

New Oregon Mug

A VW bus shirt Josh found a while ago and loved

We ran into Rick and Jim at the Hops game, and ended up sitting with them

For Josh's actual birthday he wanted to golf, and with me! We went to Edgefield McMenamins and played a small 9 holes after eating some great food.

Family Wedding

Yesterday was my only younger cousin's wedding. My cousin Tracy married Keith outside in Sandy on what turned out to be a beautiful day and not hot, which was nice. My dad's cousin Jeannie flew out from Phoenix for the weekend, and it was really great to see her too. The last time we saw her was Josh and my wedding 6 years ago. Now... pictures of course!

A real family photo, yay!
