I'm finally getting around to updating my pictures. These are from when we stopped at Multnomah Falls on the way back from Skamania Lodge after John and Jen's wedding.



Frybackyard Olympics 2011

It's September, which means some wonderful things. A change in the weather, football, and the FrybackYard Olympics! My mom came into town just in time (not on accident, she plans it that way) and the next day we were off for the 6th annual backyard games. Every year we draw names for guy/girl partners, never repeating, and off we go. The events this year consisted of the usual minus the golf/soccer kick event... which was okay with me. We had horseshoes, lawn darts, and bocce ball. Then as an exhibition event once again we had beer pong. We did draw different partners for beer pong since not everyone participated. My partner this year was a rookie, Rick's niece's friend... and while we fell apart during bocce ball and lawn darts we came through in horseshoes... usually my worst event. We pulled out silver in horseshoes, so we were happy. My mom medaled in both lawn darts and bocce ball, gold and bronze. Josh... Josh had a fun time and got to spend a lot of time with Samantha... Josh fared a little bit better at beer pong, but still no medal. I picked up a bronze... not bad after Rick and I had to fight our way back after losing our first game.

Sam held up great. She took a nap once, played with a little girl 12 days older than her, and got passed around a bit when people had an off time from their games. We didn't even leave until 8:30, so she got to stay up past her bedtime, but was smiles the whole time. She loves the Frybacks!

Snodgrass Wedding

2 Weeks ago Josh and I had the privilege of heading up to Skamania Lodge to see a good friend get married. John and Jen, we are so happy for you and glad we got to be there to share in your amazing day!

Samantha got dropped off at my dad and Kaye's house Saturday morning and spent more than 24 hours there. At first driving away knowing we wouldn't see her for a while felt weird, but once we were surrounded by friends, it was great to get away and be just us again. We met up with some old friends, and a few news ones at Full Sail Brewery in Hood River. Good food, good beer, and then the brewery tour. We live in the brew capital and have never done a tour before. It was cool, and something we want to do again. After Full Sail a few of us headed to Double Mountain Brewery down the street for one more beer. It was a cool local hangout, but not the biggest.
After we finished up in Hood River we were off to Skamania Lodge for the night. I haven't been there since the first weekend they opened, and Josh had never been there so it was fun to experience together. After checking in we headed to the back lawn where we played a few games of croquet with Meredith and Kevin. We thought we were just going to relax before heading in to get ready for the wedding, but little did we know there was a birds of prey exhibit happening right where we were. There were lots of birds, an eagle, owl, and a few hawks. Josh and I were sitting in the back row, and they kept having the hawks fly directly over our heads. We both ducked every time. It was a little freaky. We also saw them feed a dead quail to the eagle... pics of that below as well as wedding pictures.

Finally we got to the wedding. It was the perfect setting and Jen looked beautiful. The reception was a blast, and I don't think it was coincidence that we were placed closest to the bar... family had to walk a bit further, but not Roman, Jen, Meredith, Kevin, Dennis, Kathy, and Josh and I. The cover band was great, the food was amazing, everything seemed to go smoothly. We partied til just past midnight and enjoyed waking up the next morning on our own w/out sounds of a crying baby. On our way back into town we stopped at Multnomah Falls and then at Roman's cousin Joe's house for the annual football kickoff party. We didn't stay long however since we wanted to get back to see our little one before we had to get her to bed.

It was a great weekend, and we were happy to see good friends again who we don't get to see often enough.

Samantha's 7 Months

I can't believe we're closer to a year old than we are to her being brand new. Pretty soon she'll be running around truly running this place, as opposed to rolling all over this place, but still running everything as it is now. She's trying really hard to figure out how to crawl, but seeing as how she just figured out how to sit up well by herself, we'll give her time on the crawling. She can however hold herself upright against a piece of furniture if we put her their. She'll tend to fall back but catch herself and balance really well. She may just skip this crawling thing and head straight to walking before we know it.

Since we couldn't get in for a 6 month well child visit due to crazy summer schedules at the doctor's office, we finally got in for a 7 month check. Sam is growing like crazy. Her head is in the 90th percentile, length is 27 inches, 70th percentile, and weight at 19 lbs 10 oz... ya... 90th percentile there too! At least her head and weight are both high, her large noggin fits in with her large body! LOL.

She still continues to sleep through the night, bed anywhere between 7-8 usually and up between 5 and 6. We don't love the early rising, but since we get up at 5 on work days anyway, we can't expect anything different on the weekends. She tends to take 2 naps a day, sometimes 3 depending on where she is. When it's just me and her at home she tends to take 2 long naps since she's in the comfort of her own bed in her dark room. Daycare is a bit rough with 1 maybe 2 naps of anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes each. Thursday nights tend to be rough.

She's got one tooth really poking through, and another one coming up according to her doctor yesterday. She got 3 shots yesterday also. 2 of which she handled well, but the flu shot she did not enjoy. And the best part is the flu shot is broken down into 2 doses so we get to go back and do it again in a month. Yay.

Everything seems to be going well at the Berger home right now. My mom gets into town tomorrow for her yearly extended stay, friends and family fun to come.
